She Belongs Above

This is a portrait of my great grandma who died earlier this year. It was done in Charcoal and the text in Ink.

Fast Women & Cheap Drinks

This was my senior project.

It is a little over 7 feet tall and about 5 feet wide. The words are from a 3oh!3 song. The girl is done in watercolor. It took about a week to do all of the girl. The words are done in marker.

Evolving

I thought it would be neat to show the process of drawing and painting something which the butterfly went along well with because of how a butterfly evolves.

One Nation Under ___

This piece seems to be very controversial to people. You either love it or you hate it. When my portfolio was reviewed for SAIC (School of Art Institute of Chicago), they loved it...of course. The background is pages of an encyclopedia over the U.S. It was very simple to make ... but I sure get a lot of comments on it.

18 - 19

18 - 19 stands for "Every 18 minutes someone in the U.S. dies from suicide ... and every 19 minutes someone is left to deal with it."
Oil Pastel

HAPPY FATE

This was my best friend's birthday present. I used old book pages and covered it with fixative and then set it on fire. The last thing I did was paint on the quote.

HOPE

This project was centered around the idea "hope". It was supposed to portray what hope meant to me. I used 4 central ideas, gay rights, the situation in Darfur, making good choices, and adoption.

Family Portraits

These were all done in charcoal, which is one of my favorite mediums to work with. They were my mom's Christmas present in '07 (she cried).

Mom & Dad (youngins)

Sally

This was a cellophane ad from the 60's. I changed the mothers hand into a witch hand and had the little girl excited about a bug sandwich!

High On Music

This was a piece I did for someone's birthday. He loves mushrooms and music.
Watercolor.

Creepy Crawlers

This was a little series of bugs. They are all done in watercolor and ink.

The Sound Of Loneliness Makes Me Happier

The title comes from the lyrics in a song called "Poison Oak" by Bright Eyes. The Paper on the piece has the lyrics on it and one part says "I was drunk as hell on a piano bench". Another part says " the sound of loneliness makes me happier" which is how I got the title.

Won a silver key at The Scholastic Art Awards and hung in Brooks Museum in Memphis.

Cold Paint

This was some photography that I did. My brothers and sister got wrapped into helping me. Joey (top) is 11, Emily (bottom) also 11, and Jared (middle) is 8. I painted some of my favorite quotes on their backs. Getting Jared to hold still was hard work. He said the paint was too cold!

Talkin' Trash

This piece was shows exactly what the title says, "Talkin' Trash". I actually dug through the art trash can to get the things I needed for it and no the piece doesn't stink. Mixed Media.
